Staff Details

Many professional staff are employed by, or attached to the Practice. These include:

GP Partners

Fully qualified GP's that form the Partnership of Old Machar Medical Practice and are ultimately responsible for the day to day running and provision of services of our practice.

GP's attached to the Practice

Fully qualified GP's that are employed by the partners to provide GP services to our patients.  These doctors have a variety of contractual arrangments and may be termed GP Assistants, GP Retainers, or GP Locums depending on the contract they hold with the Practice.

GP Specialist Trainees

Fully qualified doctors that are currently progressing through the training process to become a fully qualified GP.  The process of training for General Practice takes a minimum of 5 years from the time of graduation from medical school.

Practice Nurses

Nursing staff employed by the practice to provide nursing services to our patients.

Community Nursing Staff

Attached to the practice, but not employed by the practice, we have a large variety of community nursing staff comprising of District Nurses, Health Visitors, Health care assistants, and commumity midwives.

Community Psychiatric and Social Support Services 

Attached to the practice, but not employed by the practice, we have a large variety of community psychiatric/support staff comprising of Drug Problems Service workers, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Listening services, Psychologists, Care Manager, Occupational Therapist, and Link Workers.

Administrative Staff

In order for the practice to run efficiently we have a number of administrative staff employed by the practice including a practice manager, office managers, receptionists, clinical co-ordinators, secretaries, and finance assistants,

Pharmacist

Attached to the practice we have several primary care pharmacists that help with medication issues and our chronic medication service.

Students

As a training environement we regualrly have a varitey of students in the practice that are earlier in their training so they may experience and learn what life is like in a busy city practice.  We regularly have nursing, midwifery, and pharmacy students from RGU, and we regulary have medical students from Aberdeen University.
