Practice Profile

We are a well-established two-site practice with a patient population of approximately 17,100. The practice boundaries include most of the city of Aberdeen, the urban area of Bridge of Don and North to include the rural areas of Potterton, Belhelvie & Balmedie. Our main premises at 526 King Street are owned by the partners whilst our branch surgery premises at Jesmond Drive are leased.

There are currently six full time partners, three part time partners, two GP Assistants, and two GP Registrars.  Among the partners there is a wide range of interests out with General Practice, including Forensic Medicine, Minor Surgery, Offshore Medicine, Occupational Health and IT.

We employ twenty-two clerical and secretarial staff and six practice nurses. A Nurse coordinator is currently in post, and manages both the practice nurses and our community staff. Members of the Primary Health Care Team are located both within the main surgery premises at 526 King Street and at our branch surgery at Jesmond Drive.

The EMIS clinical system is used extensively in the practice for all clinical purposes, administration & appointments. Higher levels of target payments are achieved for immunisation and cytology screening programmes. We have electronic links to Aberdeen Royal Hospital Trust for Laboratory results and to Grampian Primary Healthcare Trust for “Partners”, which is the exchange of registration information between the practice and the Practitioner Services Division of the Trust.

We became a GP Training Practice in May 2002, achieved Practice Accreditation status in August 2002 and have been involved for many years with the teaching of undergraduate medical students. The practice provides a friendly, supportive environment with a strong emphasis on team working. We have a long-standing commitment to teaching in General Practice and focus on learner centred education. Our aim is to provide high quality patient care and we are committed to training and education of the whole practice team.

We have recently (June 2006) moved in to new premises at Bridge of Don in conjunction with Grampian NHS Trust.
