Diet and Advice

Our practice policy is to encourage a healthy lifestyle, and our nurses run many of the screening programmes which can help to prevent ill health.  If you are invited to attend for such screening tests, please try to attend, as this can prevent complications in later life.

Appointments with the practice nurses can be made via the main surgery numbers. If you would like to talk to one of our nurses please ask the receptionist for a suitable time to call.

District/Community Nursing Services

The district nurses provide care for those discharged from hospital and other patients who require home care.  Their multifunctional role includes: health promotion, teaching, rehabilitation, and palliative care.  In consultation with the doctors of the practice they can also refer patients to other community services such as physiotherapy and chiropody if required.

To contact the district nursing team:-

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm - Tel: 482268 (King Street) or 846624 (Jesmond Drive)

After 4:00pm and weekends - Tel: 662288 (EMERGENCIES ONLY)

There is an answer machine service so please leave your NAME and TELEPHONE NUMBER and one of the district nurses will contact you when they return to the office.

Health Visitor Services

The health visitors have a major interest in preventative care particularly amongst children, and in addition to our regular services we have separate child development clinics, immunisation and "well baby" clinics. They also take a large share of the care of our frail and elderly patients.
